Congressman Michael Capuano's Office
Over the summer I had the opportunity to work in the office of Congressman Michael Capuano (D-MA). While at work I had a variety of jobs. I helped with administrative tasks like mail, constituent phone calls, faxes, and Capitol tours. I also wrote constituent letters on topics like North Korean nuclear weapons, seismic air gun blasting, and immigration. Another one of my tasks was to attend hearings, briefings, and legislation markups and write memos to staffers. In addition to memo work I also got to conduct research to help inform staffers and the Congressman. I had the opportunity to work on policy issues like foreign aid to the Horn of Africa, Congressional redistricting, immigration reform, the opioid epidemic, and healthcare. I really appreciated the opportunity to learn so much about different policy issues and how the Hill really works.
