World Bank Group
I interned at the International Finance Corporation, the private-sector arm of The World Bank Group, within the Climate Business Department. I was developing methodologies for APEX, a data-tailored carbon-mitigation web-tool enabling municipal governments to quantify the cost, feasibility, and impact of sustainable action plans. I worked primarily in ArcGIS, analyzing tree canopy cover and green spaces for cities across geographies and climate zones. Discussing and evaluating the tool’s different methodologies opened my eyes to different incentives and costs of green policies and infrastructure, to governments, businesses, and individuals alike. I also want to give the warmest shoutout to my supervisor and Excel queen, Lorraine Sugar, who taught me so much and made my virtual summer experience truly magical!
