As an intern at BARDA DRIVe, I had the opportunity to develop and drive several initiatives addressing national preparedness and medical countermeasure procurement. To accelerate the commercialization of promising biosecurity technologies, I developed the vision of several accelerator programs by crafting their statements of work, designing their technical and financial curricula, and refining mentorship strategies. These have been implemented in the programming for three major programs: the WheelsUP accelerator, a startup studio model for innovation, and a pediatric accelerator. Additionally, I spearheaded and led the brainstorming, modeling, and creation of a business dashboard that evaluates long-term outcomes of DRIVe investments. This dashboard will critically impact future investment decisions, company support, and programming strategies at DRIVe. Furthermore, one of the most fulfilling efforts I initiated is a collaboration with MIT on biosecurity commercialization, which I look forward to continue developing in the future. Overall, my summer in DC was a phenomenal experience, and I am so thankful to have learned about pushing boundaries in biosecurity entrepreneurship from the most innovative and inspiring leaders in the field.
