American Energy Society
This summer, I worked at the American Energy Society (AES), focusing on energy startups and climate resiliency. AES plays a key role in driving energy innovation by offering consulting services, educational resources, and fostering industry connections. As a data scientist and climate researcher, I applied generative AI and machine learning models to analyze data and extract critical insights, using a data-driven approach to explore the global ecosystem of energy and climate resilience startups. This experience gave me valuable insights into the startup landscape, particularly from a venture capital perspective.
I was also given the flexibility to initiate my own projects, leading to the development of a streamlined data processing pipeline that provided immediate insights into energy startup investments, enhancing AES's ability to advise clients such as Breakthrough Energy. Additionally I had the opportunity to network with key players in the energy sector and establish a collaboration with the Quantum Startup Foundry at the University of Maryland, deepening my knowledge of energy and quantum innovation.
My mentor played a key role in guiding me, helping me identify my areas of interest and supporting my growth in the spaces I wanted to explore. Overall, my experience this summer was incredibly rewarding, giving me the freedom to thrive and contribute meaningfully to AES's mission.
