This summer I was able to intern at NASA Headquarters in their Astrobiology program. There I was able to help on several projects across the agency with a goal of bridging various NASA programs and agencies under the interest of astrobiology, the study of the origin and future of life. This included helping organize two international conferences, one on Astrobiology and the Future of Life, and another on Metagenomics for Planetary Protection. Even as an undergraduate, I feel I was able to give my input on how to structure NASA’s future endeavors in these fields. Beyond science management and communication, I was also able to work with NASA Ames to renew the Astrobiology website. This allowed me to learn more about website development and how to communicate astrobiology to early career students. My internship at DC was so impactful that I decided to extend my work into the fall so I could continue working on these projects. Beyond the impactful work I was able to get involved with, spending a summer in DC was a highlight out of my four years at MIT because of how exciting the city is.
