I interned this summer in the office of Congressman Michael E. Capuano (D-MA). Day to day activities included managing the front desk, responding to constituents, and providing tours of the Capitol. More importantly I had the opportunity to attend briefings and hearings - whether during my spare time or at the request of staffers - and write memos on various topics to help inform the office on various policy issues. I focused particularly, but not solely, on space exploration and financial services. Rep. Capuano sits on the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure as well the House Committee on Financial Services. This provided many opportunities to explore different policy areas. Overall the experience allowed me to gain valuable insight on the political process and the culture of Capitol Hill.
