World Bank Group
This summer I worked with The World Bank’s Data Partnership Group in Sustainable Development. I had the unique opportunity to interface with Facebook Data for Good, Open Street Map and Mapbox to assess the spatial accessibility of health facilities in Indonesia and the Philippines. I created an easy-to-use computation tool for accessibility assessment to be used by other World Bank colleagues in infrastructure planning. Additionally, I was able to speak with many on-the-ground experts to better understand the nuances of Indonesian and Philippino health systems. As a future physician, this experience was incredibly empowering as it demonstrated the value of evidence-based decision making and the importance of evaluating the reach of health systems.
