I spent the summer at the National Academy of Medicine with the Committee on Clinical Trials Conducted During the 2014-15 Ebola Outbreak. I provided a bioethical and scientific evaluation of the therapeutic and vaccine clinical trials conducted in West African communities during the pandemic. My research evaluated clinical trial terminology of variable linguistic and cultural meaning and compiled case studies describing community engagement strategies used by clinical researchers in low-resource settings.
