This summer I interned at the National Academies of Science, Engineering, and Medicine, where I worked specifically at the Board on Children, Youth, and Families with the Children's Cognitive, Affective, and Behavioral Health (C-CAB) forum. I worked closely with forum staff members in planning forum events such as webinars and workshops aimed at both raising public awareness of issues in children's health and bringing together many expert perspectives in the field. In preparation for these events, I conducted literature reviews and extensive research on potential attendees and speakers, creating a database of stakeholders that will be used in the future to help the forum more effectively disseminate information. I also helped in the writing of official Academies publications created from forum events, such as a Workshop In Brief on innovations in design and utilization of measurement systems to promote children's cognitive, affective, and behavioral health. Through my time in Washington DC, I was exposed to the world of policy in a much more meaningful and deeper manner than ever before, and through the program I discovered my interest in law and making an impact at a bigger level.
