Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority
This summer, I was a researcher with the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) in the Planning and Performance division. WMATA serves the national capital area, including Virginia, Maryland, and the District of Columbia.
I supported projects focused on transit-oriented development, student travel behavior, and ridership trends. By compiling regional zoning policies and ridership data, I helped visualize development potential around Metrorail stations and analyzed student travel patterns. This work contributed to WMATA’s efforts to inform decision-making related to station-area development and student transit programs.
My time in D.C. was incredibly rewarding. Being able to experience the transit system and visit the areas I researched in person provided valuable context and motivation for my work. This experience helped shape both my academic and professional goals.
