This past summer I worked in the Office of the President at the National Academy of Medicine (NAM). The NAM is an independent, non-profit organization constituting one branch of the National Academies of Science, Engineering, and Medicine. The stated goal of the NAM is to “advance science, inform policy, and catalyze action” which is often achieved through published reports from committees consisting of elected members.

My primary focus in my internship was developing a novel health technology assessment framework that promotes anticipatory self-governance for innovators. I conducted a landscape analysis supplemented by expert interviews and delivered presentations on my findings. In addition, I contributed to other workstreams related to re-defining the culture of innovation and assisted with the day-to-day logistics of the President of NAM.
