LibertyHomes
This past summer I worked at a nonprofit start up that works with rural electric co-ops to develop strategies for home emissions reductions, primarily working to make home energy upgrades and community energy upgrades accessible and affordable to all. Their efforts, in partnership with other nonprofits and B corporations, help to increase the cash flow of poor families with high energy burdens while simultaneously making their homes more comfortable, safer, and more resilient. My work focused on creating resources to guide utilities through what our program is, why they should do it, and how to go about it. This was a fantastic experience that required a great deal of research, information synthesis, and communication and collaboration with our partner organizations to determine which organization could best guide a utility through each step in their process. My work this summer also gave me great insight into the worlds of environmental policy and justice and gave me career path possibilities that I never would have considered previously.
