Government Accountability Office
This summer I worked in the Applied Research and Methods team in the Government Accountability Office, which informs Congress about improving the performance of and ensuring accountability within the federal government. My project analyzed the impacts of hurricanes - their costs, how communities recover, and what governments do to mitigate the impact of hurricanes. To do this I conducted a literature review of research papers and helped analyze data from different federal sources. I also got the chance to attend talks around GAO to learn about other work that happens here, including ones about LGBTQ+ issues, education, justice, and data analysis.
